Born and raised in a small town just North of Dallas Texas, Carter is 1 0f 6 children. Being a part of a big family meant always having somewhere to go, which led to countless hours spent in a 15 passenger white Chevrolet van. During these rides there was a constant stream of great music being played over the radio. Carter begin to fall love with artists such as James Taylor, Carol King, Jim Croce, Elton John, The Beatles, and Johnny Cash. Inspired by these great artists and their songs, Carter picked up his guitar and started writing his own songs at the age of 12. Throughout middle school and highshcool, Carter continued to explore music while leading worship for his youth group and playing/writing with other bands. He used every opportunity to develop his voice, learn the bare knuckles of music theory, battle stage fright, and discover simplistic ways to arrange and compose songs. As he grew up, his songs grew up. Heartbreak fueled song after song and life inspired melody and lyrics. Carter’s goal with his music is to inspire others to pursue their dreams, by pursuing his own dreams to the fullest. In the end, just like he connected with songs from some of the all time greats, Carter wants to create music that people can connect with and he wants to give them a soundtrack for life.
